LiPOs are bloody great, haven't regretted the change from NiMH once. If you follow the instructions and don't mess up, they're really not dangerous at all.

And on topic: dadio I am once again extremely jealous of your skills, and of all you lot that you can hire his services (I assume that there are some handy men in Finland that do this, I just don't know them or about them). :good: I can barely change a spring on an AEG.

Why do you always carry that umbrella?
-Bad memory. Never could remember the password. Knew no Jerry would carry one. Had to prove I was an Englishman, you see.

Don't know about Finland ,there's only a hand full of us globally that do this to my knowledge ,fewer that take commission's ,a very few that I'm in awe off ,Jay851 sometimes posts on here and he put's me to shame but as far as I know he does not take orders .
I can post a link but the battery is out of stock right now , I get my battery's and chargers from "the component shop"
,the quality is good as is the price ,I found the right size battery on eBay but I don't know the make so I'd hesitate and we have a couple of weeks till we need it so better to wait ,as soon as I get the kid's off the PC I'll post a link to the battery ,charger and low charge alarm ,I'm on my tablet and don't know how to do links  ,I also listed a low charge alarm ,I'd recommend them ,you have probably heard that lipo battery's will rape the house ,run off with the kid's and burn you're wife to the ground ,one of the rules you don't brake is not over discharging lipo battery's so there are little alarm's that you plug in while using them that monitor the battery and beep when the voltage drop's below a minimum safe level ,they only cost about £3.50 ,lots of people don't use them but I do and so far I'm still using the same lipo's that I first got 5 year's ago and I've never had an issue .

Do you have the dimensions of the battery space? Internal diameter of the tubing and depth. Componentshop has all the dimensions of it's batteries listed.

I can measure the space in the gun but it might be misleading as you need to fit the battery ,wires, plugs and alarm in the space , I know it will all fit with the battery I linked as I have a couple here .

Batteries, charger and alarm thingy all ordered. Although I may wire a Burst wizard in permanently at some point, which means I won't need a separate alarm.

The trigger guard really makes it look like an Owen gun. :happyswing:

Will I get sling mounts?

I believe the correct sling would be a Lee Enfield sling. The front one is at the top of the front grip (I presume just screwed into the wood). The rear mount at the rear of the reciever, is a weird L shape.

Yes you'll get sling mounts .I'll have to have a closer look at the sling mounts ,you see less pictures of that side of the gun for some reason .

I had noticed that. I guess sights are more interesting than sling mounts :)
http://www.warwicks.com.au/owen/owen.html
Warwicks have an exploded diagram that is probably the best bet for the rear sling mount. The front one is just like a Lee enfield sling mount as far as I can tell. I have a hunch that the shape is just to allow easier access to the catch for the stock. Maybe the holes to attach it were just drilled too high to fit a normal sling mount on the prototype and no-one wanted to admit it was a mistake

not really my strong point wood but the first grip is coming on ,it will be stained several shades darker at least , still needs the mounting bolt hole drilled through but i', quite pleased so far, needs to be rounded off at the bottom more as well .

All properly mounted now so it's on to the next one , I need to finish the front one as it will also entail fixing the barrel and fins so they don't unscrew in use ,once the barrel and forward grip are secured I can move onto the sights ,the front sight is part of the compensator (flash hider) so it all need's not to unscrew or it will be very odd to aim !

There's still a fair bit to do , sights ,cocking handle and slot ,stock ,re enforce the lower receiver sides at the rear where the stock enters ,a little wiring, end cap and blueing all components .the stock is going to be the hardest bit left to do ,it will be in 3mm steel just like the trigger guard and it needs heating red hot to bend in each place but you also have to be care full it only bends in one plane and does not twist ,it was quite hard to do on the trigger guard and that's relatively small in comparison ,the other thing I mentioned was re enforcing the lower receiver ,the sides are only 1mm sheet steel ,it had to be that thin to go around the motor as that's the widest part if the gearbox but it makes it wider than the real gun and I wanted to make that compromise as small as possible but at the rear around the stock the forces acting on it will be quite large so I'm going to add additional 3mm plate inside behind the motor around the stock ,it's one of those cases that one day you're going to fall over and land on the gun and the 1mm sides will not be up to that much force !

Found this video. I guess if I go an play in Scotland, there may be a chance of not having the only Owen gun :)

But you'rs will be better , seriously though that's not a bad looking one ,look's like the stock is permanently fitted though and the mag well is too far back and the compensator is wrong but not a bad effort at all .

Yeah, you get quite a good closeup of the stock welded in place. The barrel looks too short. If I hadn't seen what you're doing I would have been really impressed by it. It does appear to use Sten/MP40 mags and with the same mag catch solution you came up with.

I have ordered a box for my Owen gun. Box size: external: 40 x 30,5 x 24 cm internal: 38,4 x 28 x 21

My plan is to print various WW2 posters (recruiting, propaganda etc.) and photo's and use PVA to cover the exterior. Then varnish over the top to protect it.
Then I will need some sort of catch and some carrying handles. The interior will require some dividers and foam padding. I won't be able to plan the interior until I have the Owen gun.
I am still toying with the idea of incorporating some sort of stand into the box. One option is 2 bits of plywood attached to the inside of the lid, curved to go inside the box as it closes. Cutouts can be added to these to hold the gun and they could be locked in place somehow when the box is open. Alternatively a couple of upright supports could be carried inside the box and be slotted into place when the box is open.

If you are carrying this on a bike or train then as plain and uninteresting as possible would be the preferable surely? Heh, I can't get my head round why you don't just drop the gun into a rucksack or similar - a box adds weight and bulk, the last thing you need if you don't use a vehicle? Or is this just for storage at home?
